Whose Playing at the Attic?
Eddie's Attic
Downtown Decatur, GA
July
BILL MILLER
with David Franklin opening
Thursday, July 20 @ 8:00 (21 & Over) -
Bill Miller is the winner of five Native American Music Awards, including
Artist of the Year and Song of the Year. He is a Native American who was
raised on the Stockbridge-Munsee reservation in Wisconsin, a far cry from the
studios in Nashville that have become his home. A talented painter and
singer/songwriter, Bill was influenced as much by the music of Jimi Hendrix,
Bob Dylan, and Neil Young as by that of his Mohican heritage. He writes about
love, hope, strength, and survival, and his latest album Ghostdance (released
on Vanguard) is a tribute to the 200 native followers of the Ghostdance
religious movement that were killed in 1890. His linking of past and present
make him a walking, talking picture of contrast, and it is this element of his
personal style that has won him fans such as Tori Amos, Steve Earle, and Eddie Vedder.
LESLIE RITTER & SCOTT PETITO
Sunday, July 23 @ 8:00 (21 & Over) -
The music of Leslie Ritter & Scott Petito has been described as “the musical
equivalent of a Monet painting!” Their latest release In the Silence invites
this comparison with the delicately sculptured sounds of Leslie’s evocative
voice and Scott’s distinctive and impeccable fretless bass playing. Their
songs are a blend of folk, pop, and new age. Leslie was formerly known as
part of the pop duo Leslie and Amy, and Scott’s bass playing can be heard many
recordings such as those of James Taylor, Keith Richards, the Band, and more.
"Cocktail Sessions" with KARYN MALONE
and special guest MICHELLE MALONE
Wednesday, July 26 @ 8:00 (21 & Over) -
Karyn Malone has made several guest appearances with her daughter Michelle
Malone here at the Attic. This evening she will be the feature act as she
records a live album of favorite jazz tunes. Accompanied by Michelle and the
rest of her back up band, the evening is guaranteed to be a blast! Michelle
Malone plans to produce and release the album on her own label, SBS Records.
